FOLIAGE
I have created most of the foliage (mesh-textures-shaders) for We Happy Few. In order to achieve a stylized look, everything in the textures has been modeled in Maya and then baked to a plane and tweaked in Photoshop. It also helps getting very clean normals maps. Assembled inside Speedtree.
The look of the vines can be altered with vertex color, allowing them to have color variation and dead branches.
JOY AND FOLIAGE
Foliage is one of the elements in We Happy Few whose look change drastically based on the player's drug state. When you're taking Joy (drugs), the trees look much more colorful. When you're crashing from the drug, trees and foliage look as if they are dead. This is all done in the master plants shader.
